The peaceful and orderly transfer of power is a hallmark of our democracy, and preparation begins early. Led by the General Service Administration (GSA), the Presidential Transition Team (PTT) begins its work long before the parties’ conventions. In fact, the GSA provides, upon request, integral support to each eligible presidential and vice-presidential candidate. This support offers services and facilities to prepare candidates to assume official duties: office space, IT equipment, supplies. By the summer of an election year, the program team is fully operational and supporting the candidates.
Should there be a forthcoming change in administration, GSA’s PTT supports the President-elect and Vice-President Elect with critical technology, equipment, and logistics support to effectively transition into the Office of the President; operationalizes the inter-agency transition; and supports the outgoing President and Vice-President, including coordinating with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and supporting the establishment of Presidential libraries.
