Our IT Management Consulting Group is growing and we’re currently seeking an experienced Project Manager for a major Federal agency. This position requires expertise in effectively developing and maintaining integrated project schedules for IT projects. The ideal candidate should also have significant hands-on experience in supporting and independently managing IT project tasks and activities involving systems engineering, infrastructure, and operations contractors and effectively supporting and advising the Government on managing such contracts and contractors. The Project Manager will demonstrate excellent client handling skills with the ability to quickly develop relationships at all levels of the client organization. This position will be at the client’s site in Washington, DC. Active security clearance required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Project manager, Program Manager, and Government Execs.

  • Interface with senior client management and business users to map out and document business and/or IT requirements.

  • Lead and facilitate project scheduling requirements gathering sessions with various Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).

  • Develop resource-loaded integrated project schedules that include project phasing, project milestones, and represent critical relationships between program tasks as required to plan, coordinate, and visualize all significant program activities.

  • Review projects schedules with Program Manager, Project Manager and team members that will be affected by the project activities.

  • Track and Monitor the progress of all projects activities; report status, risks, issues; recommend adjustments to ensure the successful completion of projects.

  • Assist Government PMs in analyzing schedule impacts of proposed changes such as, leave, training or when level of effort changes because of quality or technical complexity. Provide (a) proposed solution and (b) assist staff with implementation, as proposed.

  • Analyze trends, develop reports, facilitate communication and provide feedback on projects and programs performance.

  • Perform Risk Analysis and Risk Planning on the schedules when necessary. Additionally, assist in identifying and recommending mitigation strategies for project schedule risks.

  • Review solution and enterprise level architectural documents to provide feedback on technical dependencies, risks and integration points.

  • Support the day-to tactical operation of the projects (planning, execution of project, and project deliverables).

  • Provide comprehensive status and progress reviews to senior management.

  • Support the Government Managers in ensuring that the projects deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality and achieve the expected outcomes of the projects.

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, Engineering or other IT related field.

  • 5+ years of experience with developing and maintaining project schedules; tracking and monitoring the progress of the project activities; reporting status, risks, and issues; and recommending adjustments to ensure the successful completion of projects.

  • 5+ years of related IT management experience in an IT Operations environment.

  • 5+ years of project and customer management experience in Federal Civilian consulting environment.

  • Strong combined knowledge and experience with Microsoft Project Professional.

  • A record of successful delivery of infrastructure projects as an individual, team leader and/or manager.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in similar field as above desirable.

  • Experience in tracking budget and activities for a product/project portfolio.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of network and infrastructure operations, including data center operations.

  • Proven experience in risk management, analysis and mitigation.

  • Proven experience in communications planning and execution. Professional Skills:
