McLean, VA: At the 14th annual SECAF Awards gala on May 5th, PBG received the Mentor-Protégé Program of Year award. Vanessa Soon, PBG’s Chief Technology Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the firm and thanked SECAF, PBG’s mentor, TCG, Inc., and all the worthy competitors in the category. A company-wide celebration followed the gala.

The Mentor-Protégé Program of the year is awarded to companies that show a compelling and profound commitment to excellence through their efforts as prime contractors by providing tangible benefits to small businesses and/or subcontractors during the previous year.

In 2019, after years of friendship and informal collaboration, PBG and TCG formalized their partnership with an all-small SBA Mentor-Protégé (MPA) agreement. PBG uses this relationship in two ways: as a source of counsel and best practices and in the pursuit of mutually beneficial growth opportunities. In early 2021, TCG and PBG partnered to win a 5-year, $51M contract to provide IT Enterprise Support Services to Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (HHS ACF). Additionally, operating as their Joint Venture, Portmanteau JV LLC, the companies’ efforts were recently rewarded with a STARS III contract.

“Receiving the SECAF Mentor-Protégé Program of the Year award demonstrates our level of commitment to mutual continuous improvement and dedication to good government. PBG will continue to focus on growing with TCG into ever more successful and fulfilling work—as a team,” said Vanessa Soon, Chief Technology Officer.
